Grace ran out of dog treats last week so I decided to make her a new batch this week. Instead of her regular baked or frozen treats, I decided to make her some sweet potato dog chews from a recipe I found on It Doesn’t Taste Like Chicken.
Sweet potatoes are a great treat option for dogs since they are low in calories, provide a good source of fiber, and they contain vitamins A, B6, and C, as well as other important minerals including potassium and iron. These natural dog chews are also a great alternative to rawhide which makes my dog’s stomach upset. While doing some research, I discovered that potato peels are not good for a dog’s stomach and can be hard for them to digest so I made sure to peel the potatoes before I dehydrated them low and slow in the oven for about 3 hours. Grace absolutely LOVES them and I have a feeling your dog will too!
